Eugene N. Hamilton
Eugene N. Hamilton (AB '55, general curriculum) resides in Brookeville, Maryland, and currently serves as a senior judge of the D.C. Superior Court.
After completing military service, Hamilton joined the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where he was a trial attorney until his appointment in 1970 to serve as an associate judge to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. In 1993, he was designated chief judge of the Superior Court until his retirement in 2000.
Hamilton and his wife, Virginia, are parents of nine children and foster parents to more than 40 children. In 2000, Hamilton was named an LAS Achievement Award honoree. In 2006, he was honored with the University of Illinois Alumni Association Humanitarian Award.
