David H. Hays
David H. Hays (BS '78, teaching of secondary mathematics) of Bloomington is vice president and actuary at State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company. David is responsible for actuarial research, product and technological development within the Property and Casualty Actuarial Department of State Farm. He joined State Farm Fire and Casualty Company in 1980 as an actuarial trainee and has spent his entire career at this company. He was named a vice president in 1997 and assumed his current position in 2003. In "giving back" to the University of Illinois, David was very involved in the conception and creation of the State Farm Research Center at the Research Park on the Illinois campus, where students receive real world corporate experience while allowing State Farm to increase its supply of research resources. David desires to "bring to the board the first-hand knowledge of the value the business community sees in an LAS degree from the University of Illinois and the practical experience of using that knowledge to solve business problems."
