Walter W. Kurczewski

Walter W. Kurczewski Walter W. Kurczewski (AB '65, political science) of Northbrook recently retired as senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary of Square D. Company. Although Walter is a 36-year resident of Northbrook, Ill., he is a native of the south side of Chicago and still a White Sox fan! After graduating from LAS in 1965, Walter enrolled in law school at the University of Michigan, where he graduated in 1968. From 1968-1970, he served in the United States Army. After returning from service, Walter's career path took him to the law departments of Swift & Company, Estech, and Esmark. From 1991-2003, he served as the senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary for the North American operating division of Schneider Electric Company. Regarding his LAS Alumni Association Board aspirations, Walter says that he "learned to think critically at Illinois and desires to give back that critical thinking ability to the deliberations and activities of the board. I will bring an enthusiastic love of the University, a sense of humor, honesty, and frankness. I hope to make it easy and fun for alumni to reconnect and strengthen their connection to the college and University."
