Courses submitted for General Education Certification should follow the campus guidelines.
For guidelines on developing an Advanced Composition course, please click here.
General Education proposals must include the campus General Education form, a syllabus, and, if available, the course outline form from the original course approval. These forms are available at the Provost website.
If departments choose, they can apply for General Education certification at the same time as new courses are approved. The college will then handle the two reviews simultaneously so that, if approved, General Education credit can be earned by students the first time a course is taught.
Proposals must first be reviewed by the LAS Council on General Education. Once the course has received college approval it is forwarded to the campus-level General Education Board, which governs the certification of all General Education courses.
