Welcome to our awesome new website!

As you may have noticed, the LAS website is sporting a new look.

The makeover was driven by a need to improve accessibility and web standards support. But the site was also overdue for some re-organization, cleaning, and a fresh look to tie it all together.

We encourage you to explore the site. If you find any broken links or other issues we may have missed, please let us know. We will be continually refining the site, adding new features and functionality. We are making every effort to ensure the site meets the needs of our current and future students, our alumni, our faculty and staff, and all other friends of the college.

Thanks for visiting!

The website was developed by the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, with the design by the LAS Office of Communications and Marketing and implementation by ATLAS Web Services.

Departmental Advising

Advising for Students Who Have Declared a Major

Every LAS department has at least one academic advisor to assist its students. Plan on visiting your advisor before you register for classes each semester. Your advisor will help you to...

  • choose General Education courses wisely—earn a minor, gain an advantage in the job market, or discover where your true interests lie.
  • plan and carry through a program of undergraduate studies that fits your interests and satisfies requirements for graduation.

Your advisor will also assist you in obtaining letters of recommendation, provide information about graduate and professional schools, and offer advice about vocations related to your major or curriculum. You should have your "major plan of study" completed and submitted to the LAS Student Academic Affairs Office before the end of your fifth semester (60-75 hours).
