Internships
Internships are valuable ways of adding practical experience to your college education.
- Working in a real-world situation will help you to confirm whether a chosen field is right for you.
- Employers look for internships on your resume.
- Sometimes the experiences provide entry into an organization because you become a known talent for a future employer.

Internship Programs through U of I
The campus offers several internship programs affiliated with degree-granting programs at U of I. Each program provides highly rewarding practical experiences along with academic credit. Open to all U of I students. Admittance is competitive.
Civic Leadership Program
Unique, multiyear program for U of I undergraduates who are interested in a career in public service. Includes a semester-long internship, primarily in government or an NGO either in the U.S. or abroad.
Illinois at the Phillips Program
Semester-long program in Washington, D.C., for students interested in art history, museum studies, and studio classes. Includes an internship at the Phillips Collection museum of modern art.
Illinois-in-Washington Program
Semester-long internships and coursework in Washington, D.C., for students in any major.
Parliamentary Internships in London
Spend 10 weeks one summer working for a member of the British Parliament and well as in the House of Lords and possibly other British governmental agencies.
