- Healthy Smiles General Body Meeting

- Healthy Smiles is an organization that strives to educate the community about the importance of oral hygiene. We do community service with elementary schools and other organizations and there are also opportunities like shadowing and networking. Come on out for a great time! We'll be going over what we have planned for the next few weeks and what to expect out of the semester. There will be things to sign up for so this is a meeting not to miss!

- Does winter have you feeling blue? Ever wonder if it’s just the blues or something more? This workshop will explore Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), its causes, and cures. Also, we will distinguish the difference between feeling down and having SAD. Together, we will learn about the ways we can overcome the winter blues and focus on what makes us happy during these gloomy winter months. So if you’re interested in learning more about Seasonal Affective Disorder, join us for an evening full of information, and most importantly, fun!

- Interfaith and Social Justice Movements of the 20th Century

- Working together across the faith line isn’t something new. In fact, there are many examples of how interfaith cooperation has played a central role in the major social justice movements of the past century. Come join the Illinois Interfaith Service Challenge for this month’s first Tuesday dialogue of the semester as we discuss these inspiring examples of the role of interfaith cooperation to help make a more just world.

- Alex Yakobson, a senior lecturer at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel, will be on campus to talk about human rights in Israel. Yakobson is a supporter of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and has a column in the well known Israeli newspaper, Haaretz. He co-wrote Israel and the Family of Nations: The Jewish Nation State and Human Rights with former Israeli minister Amnon Rubinstein, which seeks to assert Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state.

- Invisible Conflicts Freeze for Peace IC Run
- Saturday, Feb. 11, noon-3 p.m.

- Brave the cold! We will be taking a lap around the Quad in support of peace on Earth. All proceeds from the Invisible Conflicts Freeze for Peace IC Run helps pay for the education of orphans in Uganda. Registration starts at noon at the YMCA and costs $10. Food will be provided immediately following the race. Outfits are encouraged! This will be a great event—come out and support a great cause!

- Submit art, poetry, and prose to Montage for a chance to be published in our Fall 2012 journal! Send them as attachments to the email below and take a shot at being published in U of I’s only undergraduate literary arts journal! We will also choose one author whose written work will be specially printed by the Soybean Press and will get to participate in producing the fine press imprint! Montage is edited and designed by U of I students and aims to foster creativity and publish the finest creative work our campus has to offer.
