To learn the general requirements that must be met in order to graduate with an LAS degree, pay close attention to each of the areas below.
All LAS students must complete the following
requirements in order to graduate with a degree from the college.
The college also establishes minimum criteria for LAS degrees.
Rules applying to electives, total hours, minimum GPAs and advanced hours, residency, and courses or combination of courses that do not fulfill requirements toward graduation.
Students may utilize other kinds of enrollment to satisfy degree requirements by following the explicit guidelines explained below.
Other ways of satisfying degree requirements, such as through proficiency exams and independent study (199) courses, study abroad (299), and off-campus study.
LAS requirements and regulations apply to the vast majority of student cases. Obviously, special circumstances occasionally arise which should be brought to the attention of the College or other offices. For example, students pursuing teacher certification must petition the Council of Teacher Education for any variance in professional education requirements, including General Education.
If you believe that a general regulation should be waived because of special circumstances, consult the LAS Student Academic Affairs Office and file the appropriate petition. Please be sure that the circumstances are indeed extraordinary and documentable before filing a petition. The LAS deans are authorized to entertain appeals from prior decisions, but only if you can provide new evidence or prove an objective error.
