Financial information

The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences is dedicated to making higher education accessible to all our students. Visit the Office of Student Financial Aid website for more in-depth information on financial aid options.

Illinois Commitment

Through Illinois Commitment, the University of Illinois covers tuition and fees for up to four years for all qualified in-state students—that's our mission as a land-grant institution.

If you’re an Illinois resident whose family makes $67,100 or less and has less than $50,000 in family assets, you may be eligible for the Illinois Commitment financial aid package, which covers the cost of tuition and campus fees.

Incoming LAS students

When students are admitted to the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, they are automatically considered for scholarships administered by the college based on information submitted in their applications for admission. For need-based scholarships, the information you provide on your application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is also used for consideration.

After you are admitted and fill out your FAFSA form, keep an eye on your MyIllini account to ensure that the Office of Student Financial Aid has received your FAFSA. You'll also find there any outstanding requirements under the "Student Requirements" section, and your financial aid notification will outline the aid you qualify for based on your application, including grants, scholarships, Federal Work-Study, and/or loans.

Scholarships

Throughout their time at the university, College of LAS students are encouraged to apply for scholarships awarded by the college. In addition to scholarships based on academic merit, funds are available for students wishing to study abroad, pursuing underpaid internships, and more.

Additionally, many academic departments throughout the College of LAS award merit-based scholarships. You’re welcome to search through the university scholarship database to see what is available.

You can also apply to a wide variety of scholarships administered outside the university.

Student employment

Many students choose to pursue additional part-time work while attending the university. Employment allows students to earn money while in school while also providing valuable experience that will carry after college.

There are many opportunities for student employment within the Urbana-Champaign community. Students are encouraged to view the university's Virtual Job Board if they are interested in applying for on-campus student employment.
